Michael The Lion Live Mix on WKDU FM

Apt One @ December 2nd, 2016 ... · No Comments

For the third straight year I was asked to play during WKDU 91.7′s Electronic Music Marathon. This year, the marathon raised money for Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society. Shoutout to my two cats, Fela and Ladybird!

I’m really happy with the set – it’s made up of lots of forthcoming original material and some simple edits that I’ve made for my own DJ sets. Pretty much what you can expect when you hear me playing live.

Keep On Hangin’ On – 12″ Out Now!

Apt One @ November 29th, 2016 ... · No Comments

New 12″ of edits out now on Diggin Deeper France! Many thanks to my good friend Jay Airiness for putting this out and for tossing two of his edit gems on the B-side as well. Happy to be splitting an EP with him after all these years.

This record is pressed in limited quantities, so get it while it’s hot!  It’s arriving at more retailers each day, so I’ll try to keep this updated.  For now it’s not being sold at US outlets – Juno has the cheapest Trans-Atlantic shipping.

Michael The Lion feat. Amy Douglas – Get It On (Soul Clap Records) – Free DL

Apt One @ November 14th, 2016 ... · No Comments

“Positivity, tolerance and love are in short supply right now. When Amy sang this song, she was going through a really tough time. The creation of this song was a therapeutic process. It has served that purpose several times. The first time we performed it live, during a Pride-related event, unbeknownst to us, the Orlando nightclub massacre was taking place across the country. The next day I thought about that moment and listened back to the song and wondered where to find hope.

This song was supposed to come out several months from now but Eli [from Soul Clap] contacted me on Wednesday morning and we agreed, we need to share our therapy with you sooner, rather than later. In Amy’s words, “for all of the songs that have come before, begging and pleading with our humanity to be better to each other, it would seem it’s not enough, so we wrote one more.” – Michael The Lion

After a hiatus of almost three months, Hooked is back at Franky Bradley’s. This is a night of disco classics and the music they inspired – truly one of the best parties I have the honor of playing.  We will soon be moving to a “5th Saturdays” date – so this is the last one in the middle of the month – stay tuned for news on that.

If you haven’t been,  I did an interview about Hooked last year with the Philly Weekly – check it out if you wanna learn more about the things that inspired Del, Shawn and I to get down like this!

Michael The Lion Feature in Jump Magazine

Apt One @ August 19th, 2016 ... · No Comments

I had the pleasure of playing Red Bull Sound Select at The Fillmore last night. It was curated by Jump Magazine, a free glossy pub that can be found at most coffee shops, record stores and other fine establishments around Philly.  I’m featured in the summer issue, and until now, it was only available in print.  It’s been made available online – and it’s a little bit of a biographical stub that tells a bit of the story about the creation of the Michael The Lion project.
