BIOGRAPHY:

If you’re gonna do anything, do it 100%. For DJ Apt One, it’s not enough just to be a world class DJ, you have to be able to bring all eras and genres to bear. It’s not enough to just be a world class producer, you have to be a pioneer of new movements and a master of classic styles. It’s not enough to just run a record label, you have to bring innovative new acts and sounds to a crowded musical world. But above all, it’s not enough to just be a DJ and producer, you have to be an individual with a style like nobody else.

DJ Apt One cut his teeth on the DJ game in Philadelphia. In the city that pioneered anything-goes DJing, party rocking is a civic identity. If a DJ can make it in Philly, he can murder dance floors anywhere. DJ Apt One has proven that to a T – taking a blend of disco, club, classics, electro, house, bass and rap from the clubs and block parties of Philly to a Vegas residency, from the nightclubs of Paris to the gritty dives of Detroit and beyond.

DJ Apt One is perhaps best known as half of Philadelphyinz (along with Skinny Friedman), a duo of Pittsburgh ex-pats responsible for almost a decade of thriving, genre-bending, anything-goes parties in Philadelphia and New York. He’s also one half of RCMP (along with Pittsburgh producer Relative Q), a project pays tribute to the freewheeling dance sounds of the early electrodisco age. The project was released on vinyl with Flamin Hotz records in summer 2009 to rave reviews, with some going so far as to call it “The best nu disco record since Holy Ghost!” 2010 saw the release of an RCMP digital EP and two singles. 2011 and 2012 saw the release of a second EP and a companion remix EP.

DJ Apt One has shared stages with some of the best talents of this generation, including The Rub, Diplo, Tittsworth, Juan Maclean, Treasure Fingers, Nick Catchdubs, Blaqstarr, DJ Sega, Cousin Cole, Sammy Bananas, Spank Rock, Dave Nada, Wale, South Rakkas Crew, Peanut Butter Wolf, De La Soul, !!!, Plastic Little, RJD2, Bonde do Role, DJ Neil Armstrong, Edan, The Budos Band, Stretch Armstrong, DJ Excel, The Flaming Lips, Flosstradamus and many, many more.

In the last several years, DJ Apt One has become as well renowned for his production as for his DJing. Philadelphyinz’s “Pittsburgh Club Anthem” has become a staple at parties in their hometown and has seen spins on local top 40 stations and as in-game-entertainment at the Mellon Arena and Heinz Field. RCMP was deemed one of 2009’s breakout records by Discobelle and The Rub. “Show Me What You Got” shot to Turntable Lab’s #1 spot. Philadelphyinz helped pioneer Dave Nada’s global Moombahton takeover, garnering BBC Radio 1 airplay and shoutouts on NPR. Apt One’s classic remixes and edits have become staples of DJ sets in clubs and on the radio worldwide, with support from Dimitri From Paris, among others and official remixes for legendary acts like Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes.

2012 sees DJ Apt One touring Europe, releasing more of his innovative funky Moombahton and working on a full-length project with collaborations with famous singers and producers worldwide.
