Benny B is one of our favorite dudes doing his thing in New York. His mixes are always interesting and they’re super diverse, from the rap-oriented So Focused series to the truck stop novelty condom inspired electro-heavy French Touch mixes.

Benny just put out French Touch Vol. 2 last week, and I think it adds some Euro flavor to what is possibly the least Euro week of the year, what with all the New World culinary delights due up the next few days.

Here’s what Benny had to say about it:

“French Touch” is a kind of disco house popularized around 99-02 or so by French groups/artists like Daft Punk, Bassment Jaxx and Bob Sinclar. Most songs have a heavy filter (hence another name, “Filter House”) and incorporate disco loops. As this sound spread, it changed a little and artists from all over the world made songs like this. Some of the greatest and most popular house songs ever can be directly traced to this era, like “Music Sounds Better With You,” by Stardust, “Around the World” and “One More Time by Daft Punk” and even more minimal tracks like “Flat Beat” by Oizo.

As with the first volume, I chose the songs I personally like for the most part. There are a lot of more deep songs from this era, ones that influenced the electro being played today, but since I don’t like that shit, I left those out.
